The highly romanticized story of how a simple banking family in a ghetto of Frankfurt became the predominant banking firm of all of Western Europe, based mainly on the time of Napoleon in the various loans they gave to all the Allied Powers at the time and there's a little romance story on the side too involving a daughter of one of those Rothschild marrying in with an English Noble.
They don't pull punches with the anti-Jewish sentimentality for the majority of Nations especially that of Prussia. this comes off as almost a bit of modern commentary that's the Nazi party of Germany taken power only one year prior.
The Rothschild's really do come off as a Juggernaut of History, they had the largest banking firms in Europe, they have a unique way of running an International banking Empire,
they pretty much funded an African nation into existence. (Rhodesia).
Built the railroads of Austria and helped fund the forces of Europe against Napoleon and that's only the list a few of the things I can think off the top of my head.
Sadly none of this matters as the ignorant and lazy have no interest.
People are more interested in Crazy Concepts and conspiracy theories that only exist in movies, everything from a one world organization to the Illuminati. Really it just comes off as boring to me. No matter how much Pizzazz you add to a wacky story it can never match the realities of the real world.
It's a recommended from me, it has superb acting and a great atmosphere, you get to see a bit of the Napoleonic War from the finance point of view. If you do decide to watch it you'v got the stick around till the end, for the ending of this film is quite a treat.
