Sean Connery star as a Franciscan Monk '' William of Baskerville'' in the year of Our Lord 1327, who travels to The Benedictine abbey in northern Italy to engage in a theological disputation with Papal emissaries over the poverty of Christ.
However Sean Connery also takes it upon himself to investigate a mysterious murder of various priests tho out the Abbey. It's his logic versus the Superstition of 12th century Christian faith.
Where if his decision is not satisfactory to the Abbey the Inquisition shall take it upon itself to ''investigate'' this most heinous situation.
and I shouldn't have to explain how the Inquisition deals with treachery and heresy in the thirteen hundreds Europe.
This is a great piece of dramatic Cinema very enjoyable Sean Connery, A definite recommendation.
I also realized I have a bit of a soft spot for religious-based movies. I always find them very captivating (well with the exception of ''The Passion'' that's not a very good movie. It seems to me to be nothing more than a glorified bloodfest and that's saying something, given that the movie I'm currently talking about involves the Inquisition)
