Oh yes Mr. Wong is back. just in case you ever thought that I would forget to do a Mr Wong movie.
Today's Journey revolves around a mysterious missing Jewel (The Eye of the Daughter of The Moon) from the Far Land of the Orient.
A Priceless artifact with a terrible curse connected to it, for it is said that if anyone should ever removes that diamond from the land of China the curse of Emporor ''Hong Chung Chu''** would kill whoever took it.
A wealthy businessman is hosting a dinner party and he invites all the high people of society such as other businessman, philanthropist, police chiefs and even the most prominent Mr. Wong.
Who was informed about the diamond making him the only one who knows of its existence with the exception of the wealthy businessman of course. There's also an affair happening between the business man's wife and some other guy.
As the dinner party progresses a game of Indication is played (or charades if you live in the British Sphere of the world.)
This leads to a setup with a reenact of a murder scene and of course being a film you can imagine what happens, the fake gun fires a real bullet and the wealthy businessman dies with his Newfound Jewel mysteriously gone. Now it's up to Mr.Wong to uncover the greatest mystery of all and find out who killed the wealthy businessman and stole the jewel.
*So there is no diamond by the name of ''the eye of the girl in the Moon''. there really should be one called that though, I bet it'd be a Sailor Moon diamond.
**There is most definitely never been an emperor by the name of Hong Chung Chu in any Dynasty or at any time. this is probably as close as these movies ever come to offensive comedy.
Which given the time and the culture they are aping is pretty good. early American films are not known for their delicate betrayal of Asian American culture. And remember this is pre-World War 2 a bunch of Japanese kids haven't been overseas to earn the most medals in US history yet.
