A Scotsman played by a Frenchman shall become an immortal, as time goes on he'll meet a Franciscan monk who seeks comedy with-in his life... Oh my mistake that's a different movie. No matter Sean Connery is here to play a Spaniard who was once an Egyptian who somehow married a Japanese princess to get a sword that won't exist for another 1500 Years. I wonder if Sean Connery's character ever met up with Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts, come on you can't tell me that Highlander can't mix with The Princess Bride.
We've got car chases, sword fights, exploding Castle, odd Magic and some metaphors on Christian philosophy. I wonder if that's the true prize. Did Connor get Enlightenment through Jesus Christ or is it more of a Brahman Hinduism kind of thing?
I guess in the end it doesn't matter, after all they NEVER MADE ANOTHER HIGHLANDER FILM!!
What I really want to know is, what's up with that Vietnam war vet who shows up in the middle of the movie? He's just driving around New York with a bunch of guns in his car. He's like The Punisher and he's got that odd Cold War T-shirt.
So it turns out there's an American version and an international version. I was never aware of the American one and I'm kind of happy about that. The American version has no World War II scene and the fencing battle in Renaissance France, or is it Napoleon France... I can't remember.
