It's exactly what you think it is, A cat in a little spaceship from beyond the stars lands on Earth, on some Farmer's field. I have to give credit to the farmer he sees a UFO and the first thing he does is he calls the military, he didn't run up to the UFO to investigat it himself. Anyways mr. kitty's spaceship is broken, he can only get home at a specified time within 3 days, after which he'll have to wait another Thousand Years. Now he must scour the Earth looking for materials to repair his broken ship.
Are hyper intelligent cat will meet with many interesting people on his journey, all while avoiding the military who belive there hunting for a little a little green man. Leading the operation is Colonel Potter... Oh wait a minute, wrong show. I Mean General Stilton (Harry Morgan).
one of the more interesting people are mystical cat of the cosmos comes across is the character Link (McLean Stevenson) a kind-hearted but bumbling fool who has many arguments with his wife, bets on organized sports events and drink copious amounts of alcohol.
It's also rumored that he may have served in the Korean War for a few years, funny I thought he was supposed to be dead... Okay how am I not supposed to make M*A*S*H references when you have so many people in the film! I mean come on it's a big high brass M*A*S*H reunion here.
You really have to give credit to the cats performance in this movie. Working with Stage animals is often a pain in the butt, but a cat! Most people can't get those things to sit down let alone act in a movie. But this cat does a pretty good job it moves where it's supposed to, it stares at the right items, it doesn't try to scratch the collar it's always having to wear.
For some reason the movie has an Inspector Gadget / James Bond villain in it, there's no real point to him, he doesn't do anything interesting it just pads out the film.
