For 18 years mr.Kees has been managing the books for a Dutch Trading Company. Only to discover that his boss has been forging information from under his nose to steal all the money to then run away. Pretending to commit suicide why'll lying to his employee. Mr.Kees is not amused by this and attempts to take the money from his boss, in a fit of anger accidentally knocking him over into the river.
Kees runs away to Paris, all the while being pursued by a private investigator, that bastard Kees also left his wife and children behind (didn't really think about them.)
this movie tries to convince you that mr. Kees is a good man, that he's misunderstood and involved in a bad situation and that's only half true. Yes his boss screwed him out of money and yes he would of had some financial difficulties in the future. But attempting to murder somebody and then running away with the money just isn't the right answer.
You had other alternatives to you buddy!
The company was most likely insured and you could have gotten a job doing something, there was a private investigator on the case after all, if you helped him you would have gotten some benefits.
Like suing your boss and getting benefits out of court.
