You ever hear of that old writers trick, when writing a mystery novel to start with the ending and work backwards. Well whoever made this movie decided to do the same. You get to see who dies first and then gradually as time moves on, discover his horrifying story.
It's weird to see Burt Lancaster die in the first 10 minutes of a film, I mean he's still in the rest of it, but there he is. Dead! Never to come back again and killed by Comrade ''freaking'' Williams of all people. The man who would later go on to act as 'Frank Cannon' (and to the less popular but more interesting role of Nero Wolfe).
This easily could have been a 'Johnny Dollar' radio production, it has an insurance investigator investigating a simple $2,500 claim of Life Insurance which later turns into a bank heist worth over a half million dollers.
You know last I checked Insurance investigators don't generally carry handguns. It is America I guess, everyone has a gun.
It's so weird that the Dragnet theme music came from this movie.
