It has the plot of a 90s romantic comedy. which in my opinion speaks really badly on 90s romantic comedies, I mean come on it's been 60 years and you haven't upgraded anything!
You've got the girl and the guy who get into a relationship, but the girls actually working against the guy and then later on feels bad about working against him because she falls in love with him. Because they do have an amusing relationship and then she does something later on to help him get things back on his feet and they end up being happily together. Really the best thing about the movie are the little musical numbers spread throughout.
Especially the quartet singing about a boxing match as it's happening on the world's weirdest looking boxing ring for one thing it's elevated about 15 feet off the ground and it's a circle. I've never seen a circular boxing ring before.
How is it that art deco from the mid-30s still looks more futuristic to me than the modern-day architecture or the architecture of the last 40 years for that matter. I keep thinking one day we're going to hit that future, but it's never going to happen, that world is gone it's been gone for an incredibly long time and it's never coming back.
There's a fun part of the beginning where one guy mentions to his colleague; ''have you seen my new Hispano-suiza it gets 15 miles to the gallon.'' What an age!
