What happens when you have a B Movie plot, inspiration from 2001 A Space Odyssey and a film crew that specializes in animal documentaries?
Turns out the Fantastic Four weren't the only ones to get superpowers from cosmic radioactive waves from space. A bunch of ants in Arizona became sentient. I never thought I'd see ants building Monolith in movies. I'm very happy that they're building Monolith it makes for a lot of fun and a crazy scientist with a freaking grenade launcher who shoots them down. They wonder why the ants are after them, will you keep shooting their cities down you bastard.
So these two scientists that set up a monitoring station in the middle of Arizona. So they can look over the ants and figure out what the hell they're doing.
The main scientist wants to test the ants, giving them the advantage to see what they can do but unbeknownst him and anyone else is that the ants might be testing them.
I love the filming Style with this movie, there's a real emphasis on the ants themselves how they move, what they do and how they react to other ants and people. Really well-made, It has that empty feeling to it, kind of a 'Alien' or '2001' vibe to it.
Also if you have a phobia of ants, small animals crawling on you or things burrowing into your skin then avoid this movie because there's a lot of that.
Really my only complaint i have about the movie is the ending it's a bit of a cop-out.
Also to all the Rednecks out there, If scientist tell you that you have to evacuate your house, you may want to listen to them. You never know what'll happen. The ants might invade, kill your horse and get you covered in poison.
