Film Summary CCIV (The Star Maker )

I can't remember if I've talked about Bing Crosby musicals before. I've wanched many of them, but I'm not sure I ever did a ''Film Summary'' on one. Anyways Bing Crosby plays Larry Earl who has aspirations and dreams to do something great with his life. His wife on the other hand simply wanting him to get a steady job so they don't go poor. But Bing can't do that so he goes out finds a new career putting children on Broadway and becomeing the talent sensation of America only to have it all taken away from him when the United States security for children's labor bored gets involved. At the end of the day he's only able to make one kid a true star.

luckily for old Bing he finds himself in possession of a friand who has a patent on radio technology and makes a fortune off of selling his Broadway plays on the airwaves. This would indicate that the film takes place several decades before the actual filming, which is not indicated in the movie.
It's kind of a subpar Musical. The Script doesn't give Bing anything to do and it's not that interesting a story. Ned Sparks has a few funny moments in the film and if it wasn't for him I might have actually falling asleep at least until the musical numbers kick up the basic ones with Bing Crosby are okay the children's ones are decent but nothing you'd want to listen to again.

I've always had a fondness for being Crosby I just find him to be such a great talent. He's one of those transition actors coming from the first generation of filmmaking and what would become the second one and existing into the famous crooner era of the mid-forties into the 60s.
