Here we are at the middle of the road of Star Trek movie. As Next Generation goes it's the easiest one to watch and the most difficult to talk about. It just doesn't have that much going for it. There's some character drama between Picard and Shinzon and the whole idea the Picard would have been a completely different person if he grew up under different circumstances. But that's only one part of a much bigger story and it ends up falling apart anyways.
The film starts on a great concept. The Federation might be going to war with the entirety of a desperate Romulan Empire, led by a clone of Captain Picard. It's a great idea until they decide to ditch it later on and just have Shenzon be a complete and utter Rogue. It just becomes another ''let's chase one ship with another ship and rip off The Wrath of Khan'' a bit more.
One would wonder how the romulans or the Federation have the resources to go to war. I thought they were fighting the freaking Dominion. Maybe I just don't know my Star Trek too well or maybe these movies don't make any sense of in the timeline, Who knows. It doesn't really matter their timelines are moot now anyways with the Peter Jackson Star Trek movies.
Really it's a sad way for a series to end. Star Trek the Original Series ended on a high note, the Undiscovered Country is a pretty good film and from what I understand the Peter Jackson movies currently on their third film is done quite well, though I do hear rumors on the 4th movie, we will have to see.
And the broken record keeps on spinning because data is not only the most annoying character but there are two of him. Oh goody more data because that's not a problem in these flipping movies.
Who knows what language that posters in, not I, I say, not I.
