Film Summary CCL (Batman) Part 1

It's the one and only Batman, the most famous of all Batman. Never before and most likely never again will there be such a popular Batman. See this one came at a perfect climate it been forty years since the last Batman movie and that one was so ridiculously over-the-top cheesey that you could stick it on a Wendy's ''where's the beef'' commercial.
Also there was no internet, all you had were review papers coming out beforehand, big posters all over the place and word-of-mouth. Now it's a miracle of anybody can even get to a movie theater without the entire thing being spoiled. (I'm looking at you Zootopia) It also gets the credit for
darkening Batman.
And it had a incredibly well used marketing budget.

Before Tim Burton's films Batman was perceived as a funny kind of awkward man who most of the public asushiated with Adam West's television show. Now I know a lot of you out there would like to tell me that Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams and later with more popularity Frank Miller are the people responsible for Batman's current state. Although they still didn't have the impact of the Tim Burton film. Popular opinion is always going to have staying power over legitimate claim.
Just ask Antonio Meucci about his telephone.
What Tim Burton's Batman gets direct credit for is the creation of the Batman cartoon show in the mid-90s. And I don't care what you tell me. If we didn't have this movie that cartoon wouldn't exist as we know it. Everything from its artistic style to the way we see the Joker and especially Batman's car are all massively influenced by this movie.
We Begin our story in an established and Batman Gothem. No backstories no montages no watching Bruce Wayne become the Batman. We do see his backstory in a few flashbacks . Proving that will never be able to completely get away from Batman's origin. But at least with it being the first movie you have an excuse there are a few people out there who didn't know who Batman was.
They do the old stereotype of the Joker is the guy who killed your parents. Which I generally don't like in almost any Batman story. I'm willing to Overlook at here just because of the iconic nature of Jack Nicholson and the fact that it gives Batman some personal impact with him , and a stand-alone movie it's not so bad but if this was a continuation I don't think I'd care for it. Then again the modern Joker rips off his own face and Staples it back on. I'll take a million men shooting Batman's parents over that.
Free watching this again you can tell that they're aping off the Superman style. Just with the way the cities designed everything's got a very big lived in look but it's also got that comic book style to it still. And I love that in these movies that's the biggest problem of every modern comic book film. They all just look like generic cities in the real world, I want them to go the extra mile make it look like the way it should be in the comics.

I enjoy Jack Nicholson's Joker. I always refer to him as the mafia Joker the mafia clown if you will would be a bit more accurate. He's playing a wise guy but he's got a ridiculous suit and a gun with the world's longest nozzle. (It's actually not that's the sad bit.)
Well sweet Jesus Bruce Wayne has more than one servant. There's some random guy that asks him if they need to open up more bottles of champagne, good for you mr. Wayne you finally discover that you don't have to work elfrid to death. You have enough money to afford Two butlers.

Well they say music makes up 60% of a movie and I think they have to be correct here. You imagine this movie without Danny Elfman , could you imagine this with a different score.

Perhaps the biggest question of all, how many dumb tourists die in this city. Think about it got them city is supposed to be a size of New York that means you have over 10 million people. Batman's one guy so he probably does save alot of tourists but what about all the rest , how often does this happen.

You think about it that's the biggest problem with that man. No matter how good he is he's only one guy he can take out the biggest criminals he can take out individuals but he doesn't have the ability to do anything else. And this is original Batman he doesn't have his five million strong family yet. It's just him and elderly Butler and a feeble police force that couldn't find his ass from his elbows.

It's funny how you always pay attention to different things when you rewatch a film. This time around I'm paying more attention to Harvey Dent and his war against the mafia and how the Batman character enter the mix. I think it would have made for a far more interesting movie but then I Am Naturally enthusiastic about mobster flicks. I always thought that the Mafia was a bigger threat. Because the mafias based off the real life thing and it's nothing more than a bunch of hoodlums that will shoot you before look at ya. Where as Batman's over the top comic book villains like to monologue and create elaborate Contraptions to confuse and manipulate the Batman. It makes for overall more interesting stories in the long run but it makes for a lacking movie. Perhaps this is just a personal bias of my own.

Now Jack Nicholson's about to get screwed over, he sent to Ace chemical plant where he has to steal a bunch of incriminating evidence but gets sold out by his boss to get him out of the way. He is about as much luck as the ''hole-in-the-wall Gang''. And he gets into a confrontation with Batman, falls into the chemicals turns into the Joker blah blah blah. We all know this song and dance, we've seen this Pony a million times. Everybody always says they don't know what the Joker's name is but this movie gives a name (Jack Napier)
