Film Summary CCLXVII (Road to Zanzibar)

It seems our good friends Bing and Bob are travelling yet again, performing various shows though out the African continent. But all is not well for them. They're suffering with quite a bit of trouble back in their Homeland and their financial situation could be better, to make matters worse one of their stunts has resulted in the fire of the carnival they were working at. With Bob Hope being a cannon-man. (One of those fellas you stuff into a giant over sized Cannon and shoot through a fire-hoop.)

Now they're on the run again, travelling deeper and deeper into more obscure territory. Coming up with more elaborate schemes to make even more money. Including one possibility involving an octopus , ''the man who can wrestle The Octopus''. As you can imagine Bob Hope is not amused by this. Claiming many only has one and a half hour arms to the octopuse's 8.

But their schemes go a little too far. Bing Crosby buys what he believes is a Diamond Mine from an eccentric British millionaire, only to discover later that the man's word and indeed his very actions are about as credible as German imperialism. Now Bob is a little distraught about his best friend selling out $5,000 for some phony mine.
Bob attempts to sell the phony mine to a group of not-so-lovely gentleman for $7,000.
Unfortunately for Bing and Bob these gentlemen aren't is easily deterred. And now they have to run away again! Getting into an even deeper part of Africa. At this point it's impossible to tell if they're even in owns territory anymore.
They come across a very depressed woman. Who says that her best friend has been captured and will be sold into slavery at a local auction. Now they have to go into a bidding war with all the locals and an attempt to rebuy the captured girl. But it seems these two girls are swindlers of their own, Rigging the auction in their favour from the start. When they discover the men have more than a couple hundred dollars to there name, they decided to try and take the two for a ride. Taking them across the continent yet again.

Indeed Bing and Bob will travel the jungles, they'll make such a journey that they'll put Indiana Jones to shame. And they'll track more land then you could possibly know, most likely due to their lack of sense or direction.
Now we get into the Romantic swing, with a few Bing Crosby songs and a romantic boat ride with Dorothy Lamour . But eventually Bing and Bob will catch on to the girls scheme and decide to go their own way.
It's at this point that we enjoy a different movie, Bing and Bob happened upon a African burial ground. Complete with over sized barrel drums. They decide to have a bit of fun and bang the drums for their own Amusement. It seems the local tribe near this doesn't take this as a very good omen, deciding to imprison Bing and Bob as their newly-found of Gods. But one of the locals doesn't believe in their God theories. And decides to put them to the test. This is where they stick Bob Hope in a cage with a gorilla and the two have a boxing match. It might be the greatest thing in cinematic history.

After a fairly exciting but unsuccessful boxing match the two men are stuck in cages where they're going to be served up for dinner. But before the two men could be turned into human meatballs they pull off their old patty-cake routine and escape the tribe. Now they're back in ''civilized'' land where they're attempting to get back home on a boat ticket.
But old Bing comes across the two women that they had separated from earlier in the film. Dorothy Lamour decide she doesn't want to marry her original man and joins them in their latest scheme. The old magic trick of signing a person in half and sticking them back together. With the film ending on the beginning of the act. We have no idea if it was successful.
