Film Summary CCLXX (The Ring)

Everybody tells me I've got to watch 'The Ring'. It's a great and scary film, and I admit, I was concerned for Thomas myself . But it wasn't that freaky. It deals with some racism but I'm not entirely sure why everyone makes such a big deal out of ''The Ring''.

Somewhere down on Olvera Street. Lives a young Mexican American family . The father of the family who looks like a Mexican Marlon Brando has just lost his job due to his age. And his family is very distraught about it. They had just bought new furniture for the house and the father informs them that they have to give it back. But there's son Thomas Refuses. He's not going to let his family live in squalor. So we Runs Out after having an argument with his father. And goes to hang out with his girlfriend. They head over to some local coffee shop wear a couple of guys start flirting with her. Tommy wants to beat the ever-loving crap out of these guys but his girlfriend won't let him. So he sends her away on a bus back home and precedes to assault the two men.
Police are about to arrest Thomas. When a strange well-dressed man pulls up in a very nice car Telling Tom to get in . Thomas decides to do so taking his chances with the stranger over the police.
I remember this is 1950s Los Angeles, Thomas is a Latino American so the stranger in the car is most likely safer then the cops.
Luckily for Thomas the guy in the car happens to be a boxing manager. And he seen what Tommy can do . He decides to give him a chance to get into the ring and home his skills.
Now we turn into your typical boxing movie. With Montage training scenes, intense fights, inflated ego, a decent amount of money (At least for a low-end fighter.) At no point dose he ever turn into Rocky. he doesn't become the greatest fighter ever known. In fact at the end of the movie he goes up against a Prizefighter as a fill-in for another guy and gets his butt rightly beat.

The only unique part of the movie is:
Thomas takes his friends to an anglophile restaurant where there are denied service and perceived as thugs. The restaurant owner even called the police on them . The only reason they don't get kicked out or taken to The slammer is because the cop recognizes who Thomas is and tells the restaurant to let the boys eat their meal.
