Ohh Spider-Man 3, you've become something of a legend over the years haven't you? Like a derpy Robin Hood .
So Peters at his university class trying to listen to a lecture and some jackass behind them is shooting spitballs at him like it's the third grade. What the hell is this guy's problem? First thing I do is I'd stand up turn around and Shout hey asshole you're paying thousands of dollars for this stupid course! And so am I for that matter.
If you fire one more split Bell at me I'm going to Jab my pain into your jugular like Eddie out of Casino! You stupid childish dalcop!
It's too bad this wasn't a better movie. It has a pretty good setup, Spider-Man's life is in order, his girlfriend's doing well on Broadway and all the while his best friend Harry Osborn is looking over his shoulder plotting his demise. There's so much suspension, tension you could have made with this. But instead they squander the whole thing by giving Harry Amnesia and making us focus on lesser characters.
Now we get to focus on... Venom? The Sandman?
And what of the Sandman story, they could have made that into something all of its own. A story of a man looking for Redemption for the wrong things you've done in the past. But we can't have any of that we'll just have them turn into a sand monster.
And then we have the wedding proposal repeater tells Aunt May about his plans. Then it might be the last heartwarming scene we have before this movie completely goes off the deep edge. Such potential squandered.
So there's a huge confrontation between Harry and Peter . Their first meal fight with pretty decent CG and then you have Peter trying to get his damn ring. He should know better, MJ knows he Spider-Man he could explain the situation. I lost the wedding ring because my best friend attacked me on a flying snowboard.
There a Wile E coyote sound effect in this fight. When Henry is coming down on his glider towards the end it makes the sound of an anvil falling.
The CG might be good in the first half but they go a little overboard towards the end . what is up with Harry Osborn's clothing ? he has a snowboard and a Kryptonite sword he looks like a guy out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic.
You know I don't care about a bird being inside a sand particle machine. Like the scientist says it'll probably fly away. I can forgive that kind of oversight . But not stopping your experiment with the group of 10 or more cops outside of your very test location , that's a bit over the top.
It's at this point that the movie gets ridiculously over-the-top. The beeping noises with Jay Jonah Jameson, the introduction of the overly ridiculous Eddie Brock. Then God help us when the symbiote gets onto Spider-Man suit.
Although I actually like that part. It become so ridiculous that it's all the sudden joyable. Like Peter Parker walking throughout the street thinking he's the hippest hottest thing in the world.
Nobody's meant to take him seriously, he looks like a ditzy to moron and you're supposed to think that. That is until he ends up punching his girlfriend in the face. It's at this scene that the entire premise of all three movies falls apart. The romance between Mary Jane and Peter is gone. And I don't care how the ending turns out you crossed a line. That's something you really can't come back from.
Worst thing about Peter Parker is he's a jerk before the Symbiote. He kisses that Glenn Stacy chick knowing that his girlfriends looking at them. He's a selfish ass.
Now Mary Jane will have to leave Spider-Man, it doesn't matter how much he improves His image or shows that he can keep his temper under control. That relationship is over.
And nothing else in the movie really matters. Harry Osborn was already a lost cause from the second movie, Aunt May is going to pass away soon. And the Sandman was just a needless add-on.
Whole movie comes off as incredibly uncharacteristic. Everyone just feels like a shadow of what they once were. Of course there was some internal meddling with the films certain people saying this should be done like that and so on. Not the worst thing when you get down to it though, it's your third movie, it's been done.
I don't consider it a bad movie, it's just kind of there. One more flick to add to the pile. My recommendation just watch the second one again.
