Film Summary CCLXXIII (The Mummy)

Anybody else think that Arnold Vosloo look like a skinny but yet still kind of old Marlon Brando.

I was surprised at the amount of small details I forgot about in this film. I completely forgot about Brendan Fraser competing against the other Americans to see who could get to the Forbidden City first. I forgot about the Beatles, And the fact that the CGI mummy looks like a character out of a Resident Evil film. How sad is that by the way, Resident Evils Graphics still look the same it's been over 20 years for god sakes.

So Brendan Fraser is a default b-list Indiana Jones running around Egypt trying to look for treasure. And I guess he gets captured because he decided to stick around at a British military line while he was getting invaded by a four times bigger Army. Then we cut over to library girl. Whose name I can't remember . she's a cocky full  of herself woman who doesn't actually do anything. And is only swept into Adventure when she discovers Brendan Fraser and his impossibly good hair. The film has a few seen showing her off in some undergarments and she gets drunk at some point but that's about it.

I only stopped watching the mummy about 12 hours ago and I have no idea what the heck happened. I know The Immortal City gets blown up at the end and the mummy man keeps eating people. But that's about it, also if I was the mummy man why not just turn into a giant Sandstorm kill the entire city will the Americans are sitting in and then go off to some other place. Or better yet why not just take the Book of the Dead* and throw it away. he keeps going on about wanting his true love back but it's adequate from the second movie that that's not going to work out. Plus I could just see him getting bored of her and a couple weeks anyways, or given that she was cheating on the King to begin with maybe she'll cheat on him too. Find another Underdog to hook up with, get killed again and then turn another man into a super mummy who will have to wait five thousand years to come back.

The mummy movie is exactly how you remember it. And enjoyable enough Adventure film but doesn't make you think too hard, with okay acting a livable story and some enjoyable effects. Some of the CDs a little cheap and if this movie was made 40 years earlier there would be some beautiful mat-paintings. But unfortunately nobody makes those anymore.
