Well here we are the tensions are still high as Spider-Man and his gang of Misfit minions attempt to track down Carnage again. I swear that's half the freaking comic now. Spider-Man and Carnage fight each other, Carnage says: ''screw you guys I'm going home'' Runs off, justto kill more people.
But it seems a few of the other members have finally taken up their own initiative to find out what Carnage's up to.
That weird vampire guy decides to check out some medical records, hoping to find something on the character known as Shriek.
Unfortunately for him the sun is starting to come up and he's kind of trapped within the building. And on top of that that he has a thirst for blood (you have one ticked off and annoyed vampire.) You think he would have kept better track of time. I mean you'r a vampire, the sun is quite literally your mortal enemy. I bet Vincent Price didn't have this problem. Or was it Christopher Lee? Was Vincent Price ever a vampire?
It's within our main group of Heroes that Venom as the idea. Yes Venom the usually clueless kind of half-witted villain.
So Venom proclaims: ''Hey doesn't the Fantastic Four own a Sonic Gun?'' You know that thing that can destroy the Symbiotes (or at least where it down.) Maybe we should go and get that thing. Spider-Man says the Fantastic Four aren't actually there, But then Venom doesn't seem too bothered about this. ''We'll just smash up the building and take what we need to take. 'It's for the greater good after all.''
So our team of heroes head off to the Fantastic Four building. Where they'll no doubt break in and steal the equipment they need, (yeah they're sounding like real heroes)
Well with the exception of the character Cloak. He decides to go looking for other superheroes to help in the battle. Particularly those with fire powers.
And now we turn over the Carnage and his gang of oddballs. They're still out in the streets, killing random people and having a gay old time of it. Well everyone except for the Demogoblin.
He's complaining that they're not weeping vengeance on to the mortal world of sin. Nothing says party pooper like an overy religious zealot. Even Carnage tells him to calm down and have a little fun with it. ''Just to unwind a little bit and enjoy the Simple Pleasures in life'' Like busting open a man skull or burning down a building. Carnage would have a pretty healthy attitude if it didn't involve the slater and killing of so many people. In fact that's the great irony of this whole comic. Carnage and his friends are going out having fun and forming a great old friendship. While Spider-Man is slowly deteriorating both mentally and physically. Pushing away those he loves and becoming more involved in Vigilante vendettas and revenge plots.
Now of course it wouldn't be a Maximum Carnage comic if we didn't introduce a new character. Now entering the ring here comes ''Carrion'' the man who can deteriorate a body by touching it. He's another one of those Green Goblin rip-off characters. he decides to join Carnage for ... Raisins*. It doesn't really have a good reason to join Carnage he just doesn't seem to care about anything. Soundly Carnage has another friend. I tell you Carnage is doing pretty well it's like a ''My Little Pony'' story, the Power of friendship will conquer everything and Carnage will also destroy it. (how's that for Yin and Yang).
Now we have Deathlok the man who lives in the cyber world. (Or at least that's how it looks to me) He's this weird cyborg man who has a little computer that tells him technical data. Imagine Spider-Man's ''spidey sense'' but much more annoying. Anyways he decides he's going to take up the battle against Carnage and stop him from doing his evil Deeds. How powerful is this man? How Magnificently can he destroy Carnage? He's killed in about 3 to 4 pages. Left on the ground to die. Yeah this guy does not have a great introduction.
Now why all this is going on Aunt May and Peter's father (who apparently is still alive and was captured in the Soviet Union for 20 years) are waking the Steets. Aunt May is a bit upset at him, because he told Peter to be a more aggressive person not to give in to the good sentimentalities of people but the only look at the negatives. As you can imagine Aunt May doesn't take this crap. Even when the two of them are harassed by a random thug trying to steal May's purse. And at the end of the day the only character that gets to ramble on about the goodness of the human spirit (without it sounding repetitive). She is supposed to be the essence of pure good that inspires Peter to do so much. Or at least the living good
And finally we reach our conclusion. Spider-Man and his friends have broken into the Fantastic Four's house, They've stolen the Sonic Gun and are ready to take on Carnage. But who should pop out of the shadows but Cloak with yet another character by his side. Fire-star!! And... I'm really happy about this.
I actually quite enjoy Fire-star I've always liked her powers, personality and general design. Not to mention she's one of the smarter characters to team up with Spider-Man. Her fire powers can hurt Carnage and her morality isn't shooken up like say black cat or Venom. She's your straight up good solid superhero. And I'm really quite happy to see you're on the team, I finally have someone worth rooting for on the good guys side.
Of course Carnage's had the last laugh as he hooked up the cyborg man to a giant wall of electronics reactivating him in a Blind Fury.
Here's the weird part, there's no great cliffhanger. It's more of a preparation. Which is a bit funny when you consider that the entire point of this issue was the build-up tension for the coming fight. Hell it's even called ''The Gathering Storm''
And there you have it, halfway through the Maximum Carnage Saga and this particular comic was really quite good. Is drawing style as well done. The story was simple but well-paced and it was a general joy to read. Also the introduction of Firestar really helps.

*I didn't misspell the word ''reason''. Raisins is what I use when a person does something for no particularly good reason. They just do it out of a whim.
