Comic Summary II (Maximum Carnage ''Part13'')

I tell you I have to give credit to the Maximum Carnage series. I was just about done with these Comics. The last issue I wanted nothing more to do with it. I was hesitant to pick this up and continue reading and my God if this issue didn't turn the whole thing around. This is definitely one of the better volumes of the 14 issue comic strip.

So before I get into this comic I should acknowledge that some of the art is... A bit wonky.

I mean just look at daggers face this is supposed to be the image of a rebirth. And she looks like a confused woman from a Victoria Secret catalogue.

And speaking of Dagger, she's the grand opening of this comic. ''She's back from the dead'' Everybody proclaims. They're all just a bit confused, that is to say they're so confused that both the enemies and the Hero's have stopped fighting just for an explanation.
She was never technically killed. The energy blast that she shoot out from her person somehow reflected back at her. She wasn't able to take the blast very well, essentially she converted into light and dissipated away. She was only able to return When Clock was able to clear his mind and think of the compassion he had for her. So in other words love brings people back from the dead. It's a little kingdom hearts for my liking but I've seen lamer excuses. At least it wasn't the magic Crystal that brought her back.

Shriek is in a bit of a frenzy. She's not nearly mad, she's miffed.
She starts blasting away at Dagger with every ounce of energy she has. She wants to make sure Daggers dead this time and doesn't care what she has to do to accomplish this. But daggers in a different state of mind, she doesn't want to kill Shriek (she doesn't even really want to hurt her). She instead finds a way to hit Shriek with a type of hypnotic Ray. Showing Shriek every little ounce of compassion and understanding that is possible to give. In a sense, she's hitting her with a healing ray. This confuses Shriek who doesn't know what to do with these nice feelings, she's been consumed by grief and psychotic urges for so long that she almost seems confused by a positive reinforcement. Dagger almost got through to her but unfortunately she just didn't have enough power. If it wasn't for Spider-Man's quick-thinking Dagger would be dead yet again. He swings to catch dagger and saves her from the killing blow from Shriek. As their swinging off dagger says I've failed in my attempt. Spider-Man tells her quite the opposite. he says that she's his hero. And that her effort has given him the inspiration to do what he does should have done from the beginning.

Carnage goes over the shriek and wonders if she's okay (in that oddly Psychopathic way that he can wonder about such things). She says ''I'm fine it'll takes more than a little compassion to switch her sides.'' Carnage doesn't seem to be all that sure, but he doesn't seem to be all that bothered either. He's more interested in fighting the good guys.
Carnage looks forward and realises that no ones there.

They've left!
They've run away!
What a bunch of losers.

Just before Carnage can get in a good laugh he realises that one person has remained. It's Spider-Man! Who loudly proclaims that he doesn't need the rest. He's going to fight all the villains on his own. Because that's what Spider-Man does. He defeat villains like Carnage and if he needs to do it alone then so be it.

Sure it might seem suicidal and or dumb for Spider-Man to take on not just Carnage but his gang of Misfits. But Spider-Man for the last few Comics has just been such a... Dork. It's freaking great to finally see him back in Centre Stage going toe-to-toe with a biggest of the bad, holding his own against anyone who comes against him and willing to sacrifice his own safety and even his life just to ensure that a group of psychopaths don't go out and harm another innocent person.
It's why I consider Spider-Man above characters like ''The Punisher'', Deadpool and what makes him more impressive than the almighty characters like Superman or Captain Marvel. He is a vulnerable person, he can bleed, he can be physically broken . But that will never stop him from trying to do the right thing even in the face of unspeakable odds.
Indeed he does land some pretty good blows. He's able to beat back Carnage and do Some damage to the other villains as well. It's only their combined effort and constant manipulation of the situation that lead to their overall victory. Carnage demands that Shriek finish him off with a deadly psychic attack.
She fires off an incredible burst of energy and it looks as if Spider-Man is finally defeated when out of the bloom should appear the rest of the superheroes brandishing some weird piece of technological trickery to reverse the blast of Shriek's psychokinetic power and relay it on to the villains.
The character Carrion who can kill a mortal Man by merely touching them. Is reverted back to his human self, the disease that made him this monstrosity has been removed from him and he is finally mortal yet again. The Demogoblin is also hit by this blast and it remains long enough might actually regain his own sanity but it seems that he can't quite take the blast of emotional energy and tries to escape he's only caught because one of the heroes is bothered enough to hit him. Shriek herself is confronted with her on blast and a sense of morality is finally pumped into her mind. Shriek is still damaged but she's no longer psychotic.
And then there's Carnage who's so broken so diskin-jointed that any form of positive emotion afflicted onto his body is rendered useless. He isn't able to convert back to anything resembling a human because he has become completely insane. The energy from the blast conflicting with the psychotic emotions of Carnage eventually overrun the machine resulting in a massive explosion . the machine is destroyed the heroes were nearly killed and Carnage himself is properly dead, leaving Spider-Man in a State of Shock.

After everything he's gone through he still wasn't able to actually save Carnage and although his death was an accident he still feels partly responsible. The only way he could stop Carnage was by killing him. And it's at this point that we finally reach our main conclusion. The villains have been taken care of, Carnage's dead, Spider-Man sits in Central Park. It's over, the fighting is over.

And then from out of blue who should show up but Venom! Incredibly mad and dangerous. Not only is he furious at Spider-Man from not saving him for the tortures of carnage but he's absolutely livid that he wasn't the one who able to kill Carnage. He wanted to rip out his heart. so now he's going to attack Spider-Man. Or at least that was his initial goal , Venom is still quite weak from the tortures of Carnage some issues back. But right then and there who should have hear from the water of Central Park but a fully-fledged Carnage alive and well.

What can I say but holy hell! This might be the best of the Maximum Carnage book so far. The idea that Spider-Man found is morality not from vigilante justice of venom or even the head strong solid attitude of Captain America but the compassionate, forgiveness of Dagger. It's just one of the best things to come out of a Spider-Man comic.
It's have a very Jesus Christ saving Judas vibe to it.
