For some unexplainable reason he decides to take to King-pin about a contract to Kill The Punisher. One wonders why the ruler of Latveria would waste his time with such small fry , but then Dr. Doom is nothing if not cocky even about the smallest things in life.
It's quite a fun conversation between Kingpin and Vector Doom the two egotistic Maniacs who run fairly large criminal Empires. Although does Dr. Doom actually have a criminal Empire ? when he situated out of a country. If anything the rest of the world is one big criminal to him.
So we got over to the Punisher who's in the middle of one of his incredibly long monologues. He decided he's going after criminals in the black market who are attempting to sell automatic assault rifles that as of the time in the United States became a legal to own. We also get a funny little moment wear the Punisher claims that he's the only one that deserves to have such weapons*. Which makes me question his morality and general ways of dealing with criminals.
He meets up with what he thinks is the Arms Dealer only to discover that it's actually Doctor Doom. He's using an alias to get purposely close to the Punisher. Victor gives him a warning claiming that if he wanted to he could kill the Punisher at any moment. Frank states that he doesn't know him very well and then perceives to obliterate Doctor Doom with a minigun that was stationed within his battle van. Unfortunately this Dr. Doom is only a robot,
Victor might be cocky but he's not stupid.
The utterly obliterates Doctor Doom only to see that he's actually a robot. He gets back in his van and starts off on his journey only to be encountered by a West German tank. Which The Punisher informs us of being quite prominent within the latverian army.
He's Van gets destroyed and he has to take a jetpack to escape.
This seems a bit weird to me, the Punisher to me was always just a regular dude who had a lot of guns and some decent military experience. He's not supposed to have the Arsenal of Iron Man. But I guess when you're putting them up against Dr.Doom you have to give him something. Otherwise he just be dead.
Am I the only one wondering where the heck Frank as getting all this money. The Punisher knows that Doctor Doom is after him and he also knows that in the long run he can't win that battle. So he thinks to himself; ''What can I do to keep Doctor Doom off my back?'' A friend of he's gives him the idea of breaking into Dr. Doom's Castle and stealing some of his prized possessions as a form of collateral.
It's ideas like this that make me enjoy the Punisher so much. Most superheroes would have a debate with themselves over how to best handle Doctor Doom. I they should team up with other superheroes, maybe even leave the country or try to negotiate with Victor . But Frank wants nothing to do with that, he's just going to steal Doom's nice things and threaten to destroy it all if Doom doesn't back off and leave them the heck alone.
Where is The Punisher decides to attack Doom's vanity and greed. Going after a Priceless Faberge egg that lines within the centre of his Fortress. The Punisher is able to break into this Fortress and even poses himself as one of the guards. We come up to my favourite scene in the whole comic . Frank walks up to a guard and request entry into the main hall, the guard asks him for verification . Frank looks him dead in the eye and says; ''I don't have any verification, this business is strictly from Doom.'' And of the Guard buys it.
For at the end of the day who's stupid enough to break into Dr. Doom's house in the middle of his own country?
Nobody. And if you have a super secret mission from Dr. Doom he's not going to give you any evidence of the affair.
As Frank is about to steal the Priceless artifact he's encountered by four different doctor Doom's and none of which know who he is. Frank's a little confused by this and only discovers later that the Doom hunting him in the America is in fact a robot himself. The real doctor interest with this operation.
Somewhere in the middle of the comic Doctor Doom was able to find one of Frank's hideouts and has it blown up by a bunch of fighter jets. Talk about Overkill.
I just love the idea of Victor doom and Frank Castle interacting with one another. They're two different man on completely opposite ends of the superhero villain Spectrum.
*I'd be careful what you say mister Castle. The way your talking you're going to sound like the fascistic Batman from the Frank Miller comics. And the butter sure is a lot of things but an overly egotistic maniac of illusions of grandeur is not one of them.
