Lawrence Tierney stars is a gritty detective. I know, I know. It's a hard thing to believe.
In all actuality he's only detective for the first 5 minutes after that he get 'self-fired'. I say self-promoted because he was initially only to take a Hiatus from his job because he and his boss didn't see the eye-to-eye.
But then he went and he pushed things a little too far by punching his boss in the face and decided he just leave the force.
So this other random guy comes up to him later and give him a proposition of $2,000 to be this random woman The Bodyguard.
Originally he declined the offer. Stating that the job seems suspicious and he wasn't interested. But this guy just won't take no for an answer and keeps trying to hire him regardless. He even sends Lawrence $2,000 in cash to his place of residence as a kind of down deposit.
Lawrence decides to return the money directly to the manor from which came. While there he encounters the woman who he was assigned to be a bodyguard too. Not only does she not want a bodyguard but she was unaware of the man to begin with.
It seems this entire Affair was orchestrated by her nephew who was the guy who was harassing Lawrence to go on the job in the first place. Now Lawrence is about to leave the establishment before he hears a gunshot. Going in to investigate he notices that somebody had attempted to shoot the woman who he was supposed to be hired to guard. At this point he takes a bit more interest in the case and decides to take this random guy up on his offer and protect his aunt.
While patrolling the premises Lawrence realises that the old woman is leaving our house secretly at 4 AM. He decides to follow her only to be knocked out later on when they get to their inevitable destination.
He wakes up dazed in his car next to a dead man. His car happens to be sitting on a pair of train tracks with a locomotive charging at him. He's able to avoid the locomotive by diving out of his car. But the dead man and his vehicle are destroyed. He realises that he's become the stick up man for some elaborate hoax.
Now the story takes an odd twist as he realises that he's in the middle of something far larger than a mere body guarding. There's a non conspiracy happening at This Woman's meat packing plant of which she owns. The whole thing is related to a guy who was accidentally killed there by a meat processing machine. He was a health inspector who was claimed by the medical office and the investigation to be half-blind and thus when he was killed by a heavy piece of Machinery nobody suspected foul play.
But because of everything that's happened recently and the strain set of circumstances that have left Lawrence in his situation, he decides to look deeper into everything. Only to uncover a devious plot to a surprisingly simple Heist.
So there's this huge cover-up involving altered police files, medical files, the silencing of several key Witnesses, murder, slander, blackmail and a secondary investigation launched on Lawrence himself because he was starting to investigate the initial Heist. and all of this was instigated to cover up a simple hoist in where the nephew of the woman who Lawrence was supposed to bodyguard is artificially filling chunks of meat with water so he can sell the product at a higher price and keep the extra money in his pocket.

All that hard work just to cover up an incredibly simple crime. It's not even insider Investments or stealing money out of cash registers.
There's an altercation at the end of the film with a nephew shoot his gun several times. First he shoots this random guy who he wants out of the picture of his scheme. Then he tries to shoot this woman who was sneaking around trying to get information for Lawrence. He fires about three shots at her and then fires two shots at Lawrence once he enters the building. All together that makes up 6 shots.
And in most movies nobody would pay attention to that. He would just keep firing his gun until the other guy shot him. But somebody was actually paying attention and made sure that he couldn't fire another bullet.
I know I'm making a big deal out of what seems to be an incredibly minor point but the amount of times that people forget the count bullets in guns is ridiculous. And it really shouldn't be considering most people understand how Firearms work and they're used in so many films.
Overall it's an okay little film. It's only an hour long and its premise is surprisingly simple. It involves a basic investigative story with some amusing little twist and turns here and there. The best parts are Lawrence trying to avoid the police as he goes from one scene to the next.
It feels more like a television show than an actual movie. And it's about the same length as a long TV episodes so that works out. Not a bad thing, if you have a simple story and you don't need to waste our time telling its then all the more power to you.
