I find it impossible to look at the word 'Bleach' without thinking of that episode of Metalocalypse what are the rock and roll gang Dethklok has to find a way to artificially alter their urine samples so that they can get passed a drug exam. One of them has the bright idea to drink bleach which leads to this whole horrific hallucination.
Anyways we're not here to talk about that. You're here to see a very confused person review a Netflix purchased movie revolving around a Japanese cartoon. Now I've never seen the show Bleach. So I don't know anything about it.
I think there was a very well endowed girl who wore this Finland looking t-shirt. But I'm not entirely sure. The movie itself kind of looks like a boy band promotional tape.
The style in this film is really weird. It kind of feels like an attempt at Ocean's 11. They have that kind of funky beat and they show everybody's names next to the characters. The whole thing is structured like a bad 70s action flick.
The English dubbing is horrible.
Like I get it, sometimes you can't afford the best voice actors but 1972 was a long time ago.
I think the bad dubbing might have been done on purpose. Perhaps that's how the cartoon sounded?
Once again I have no frame of reference here. So I just have to look at this movie for what it is; And so far we've had over the top main character who can see ghosts. he's friends with this other guy who also looks like he's in a boyband.
He's got a father who's slightly abusive (that's kind of concerning). No wonder this guy see ghost he's probably got traumatic stress disorder from all them shock inflicted on his head over the years.
Okay now we're at a point where our main character has to fight this big Soul monster thing that has this weird looking mask. There's this other random girl (who's a Reaper apparently). She's giving exposition to the guy on what to do about this monster while they're in the middle of combat.
"Maybe you should all ask questions after the fight is over you know when you're in a safe area."
This movie reminds me a lot of the video game Kingdom Hearts. It's full of confusing Exposition and a bunch of backstory that matters to the overall plot; But isn't all that interesting to hear. It even has a point where the character plunges a sword into their heart to either regain power or move the plot along.
Now the protagonist has a giant silly looking sword. He was able to beat the monster and thus he saved the world.
That's the ending I'm giving to this movie because I couldn't be bothered to watch anymore. The way the stories delivered along with the kind of cheesy dialogue just isn't up my alley.
I want to say that it's better than the 'Dragon Ball' live action movie simply because it doesn't feel quite as horrible to experience. But I watched that entire movie and found it amusing to see. It was utterly ridiculous.
I also watched the Dragonball series back when it was on. So I actually have contacts for what's happening. And I find all the Misunderstood moments that movie did to be very Fun. It was an American Film trying to cash in on a 80s Japanese cartoon. This movie is Japanese made for what I think is a modern Japanese cartoon.
This movie didn't have a massive Hollywood committee sitting down at a meeting one day champing on cigars and discussing what the next big project is.
What they should have done is take this Japanese film, give it to a Hollywood production company and have them re-edit the pic. Adding in new characters and scenes to appeal to a more ''American'' audience.
Then slapdash the film together and stick it out into a thousand different theatres for a bunch of people to go and watch. It would have made for a far worse film. But I probably would have watched most of it.
It works for that silly Power Rangers show back in the mid-nineties.
Okay I skipped ahead in the film a little bit and now we have the scene where the mystical Warrior girl has to blend into basic Society by going to high school.
Now I know that I've made the right decision and not watching this movie. I can't sit through one of these situational awkward comedies what are the characters have to try and interact with each other in a normal context while fighting the supernatural at the same time.
