It's a good thing the girl running away from the school at the beginning of the movie decided to loudly Proclaim 'move the blue flower'. Otherwise our protagonist would have been screwed.
It's a decent Horror Story that relies principally on it set design and it's soundtrack. These are the two golden pillars of the film and they're both absolutely phenomenal.
and they're absolutely essential to making the film work. Now I don't want to go too hard on the acting, because this film was obviously redubbed into English. But even in its original Italian I don't think it would have but able to stand on its own.
Simply put, the story is good, but it's not that unique.
It's your typical Outsider learning a devious secret and then either trying to escape it or destroyed it scenario.
Given that this film doesn't focus too much on character development. We either have to spend most of our time piecing things together with a protagonist or just admiring the fun colour palette. Easley that's the best part of the entire film. Seeing all the various coloured lights.
There's really not a heck of a lot else to say about it.
The movie gives us several opportunities to open up different storylines involving various characters, maybe having the harsh environment of the ballet lessons take their effect on the new girl. Or just the environment around her. But the movie doesn't really play with any of that. The ballet is just kind of there. You could take the whole thing out of the film and lose nothing.
It's a good atmospheric horror movie that has several unique moments of Gore. It's all used practically and in a way that furthers the story and isn't just there for senseless violence. Well maybe except for the very first victim who's just stabbed by some random guy before being thrown through the window of a hotel.
It's a basic film but it's above average in the horror aspect.
