Film Summary DV (Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Oh Indiana Jones you beloved little franchise. You're amongst one of the most popular things to ever come out and I'm sitting here being one of the five people that never watched you until now.In a way I feel a little bad about that.
I knew the story inside and out, never having to watch the actual film because so many people have talked about it and so many other people have made references or adaptations of this very story.

This is a film I should have watched 20 years ago. Back when I was a happy small child. If I had done that it probably be one of my favourite films; There's a lot of love here.
amusing set-pieces, fun music, adventure stories lifted from even older stories that I found equally enjoyable and course subject matter revolving around religious paraphernalia and super powers from the upcoming World War.
But unfortunately I'm watching it now and despite thinking that it's a good movie overall I can't help but be a little dismayed with the whole thing.

My brain is just sitting here wanting to pick apart every little inch of the film. And then the other part of my brain is telling that part of the brain to keep its mouth shut, because you're not supposed to really think about movies like this.
You know the entire thing is silly but that's ultimately not the reason why you're watching it. You want to witness the experience of these ridiculous over-the-top action scenes and strange scenarios where a man can get stuck inside of a hole full of snakes and then five minutes later be fighting an overly muscular Nazi next to an experimental hyperplane.

I never realised just how much these movies felt like Star Wars. I knew they were always connections of course and it's difficult to separate the two when one of your main characters happens to star in both franchises. But mine Gott!
It's like they plucked every little trick they knew from Star Wars and just stuck it in here has the Indiana Jones movies or just took from those old adventure stories from the 30s and 40s. Only done with bigger budgets and more ambitious effects. But I'm still sitting here just thinking to myself; ''Boy howdy I really just want to go and watch 'Zorro Rides Again' or 'Valley of the Kings' instead.

It's a fine film. I don't have to love for this movie that's so many others do and that's just a reality people going to have to live with. Especially as time progresses and less and less people see them as young kids.
You're all going to have to deal with the fact that one day people won't watch this movie or any of these other 80s nostalgia films for that matter.
At some point enough time will pass where the next Generations just won't care. It happened to me with all the films I love from the 40s, it'll happen to you as well.
It's an inevitability that happens to us all. I say don't worry about it. You want to watch Indiana Jones fight a bunch of Nazis while simultaneously driving a truck carrying the magic artifacts of old Jewish mythology then go for it. Don't worry about what people like me or anyone else says. You like whatever the hell you want to like. Just like how I enjoy watching Charlie Chan movies.

Anybody else feel sorry for the monkey? The little monkey that simultaneously tried to help Indiana Jones but was also screwing them over at the same time.
He really confused me. You've got this spy guy walking around with a monkey that informs him of where these people are supposed to go but then the monkey also helps to Aid Indiana Jones and his Escape?
And then later on eats a poison Berry and gets killed by the very guy who was trying to kill Indiana Jones to begin with.
I kind of want to see that guy story afterwards.
Did he ever find out about his dead monkey?
How did he take it?
It was me I'd be very upset. Good trained monkeys are hard to come by.
