Television Summary XIV (Beyblade: "Take it to the Max!")

We're three episodes in and already looking for ridiculous contrivances to use the spinning tops to solving really dangerous problems.
You know we could had actual character development or maybe a secondary or tertiary story based around one of the characters from an earlier event training or doing anything else.
But no, we get to dainty kids throwing spinning tops at a log stop a puppy from drowning in a lake.
Which only happened because a girl was super stupid and supposedly put a dog on a log and let it drift out into the middle of the lake.
Why nobody swam in to grab the dog I'll never know. We never see the bottom of this River but I can't imagine it's all that deep given that this seems to be a dry bank area that's only designed to catch water to stop the city from flooding.

But I digress.

This episodes all about introducing another kid who's obsessed with spinning tops.
Which may not be all that interesting given that there doesn't seem to be any kid in this universe who aren't interested in these god-forsaken toys.
But alas this one at least has an excuse. The character is Max.
The incredibly upbeat positive going, friendly, half American Boy whose father owns a shop that specialises in these special tops.
In any other Universe you would probably go out of business or at least would maintain a kind of niche market winch only deal with a select few who have to pay premium prices to keep up their immense hobby (kind of like Warhammer 40,000).
But in the hypre obsessive world of Beyblade he's probably making proper dough.

To put it simply he's my favourite character. He's the only kid out of all the main characters who seems to understand that it's just a silly little game.
He'll take it seriously enough in a tournament or if somebody really gets on his bad side. But never to such an extent that anyone else does.
He just wants to hang around and enjoy the game. Also I just like his Plucky attitude makes for a decent companion with Tyson. He's a kind of Tail's to Tyson's Sonic if you will.
I'm also pretty sure that young me had a unknowing crush on him (which I know it's stupid because cartoon characters can't like you back but that doesn't change what was.)

As the story goes there's not a lot going on here. You have the conflict involving the possible drowning dog at the beginning but otherwise it's just Tyson, Max and their other random friend hanging out in the game store adding a battle with their spinning top toys and just talkin shop as it were.
There's an introduction to a tournament later on when we get one random scene of Kai training for said tournament as well. And that's literally it.
It's mainly just dialogue and characters getting to know each other and the funny part is it's a significantly better episode than the last two. Which just came off as kind of boring awfully written I just kind of tripe. At least this episode was able to keep my interest most of the time which is probably help when introducing another character as it adds a bit more variety.

Oh, wait a minute. There's a part in the story where Tyson tries to alter he's fighting technique so he can make this little spinning top zip around the place like crazy and somehow blow a hole through his wall. It's supposed to be the climax of the episode but I was so disinterested by it that I kind of forgot it existed.
