Film Summary DCXIV (Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse)

It took almost 20 years but we finally got another decent Spider-Man movie.

Now I'm somebody that's been avoiding Spider-Man for the past 10 years. Sony release their Amazing Spider-Man movies and just buy trailers alone and surmise that these films would not be for me.
Then Marvel Studios (under Disney) comes out with their own Spider-Man movie. It looks okay, but once again it's another live action origin story revolving around your basic Peter Parker.

And you know I'm just kind of sick of it.
If you're going to make another movie based on a popular character I want you to go out and do something ridiculous with it or at the very least take the established story and give it a new spin.

Luckily for me that's just what we got.
'Into the spider Verse' is this beautifully drawn animated movie revolving a Spider-Man origin story that actually takes place in an already well-established universe.

The multi-dimension Spider-Man story makes for an interesting backdrop and it gives us enough characters that we never get bogged down in any one particular scene which ultimately helps with good pacing.
The basic story around Miles Moranis is actually quite simple. Just another kid in a new school, new environments having to deal with awkward and embarrassing scenarios.
And I'm incredibly happy that they didn't get bogged down in a out of place or embarrassing Love Story.
It would have been a teen love story so it would make sense for it to be awkward. But it's still kind of nice that they didn't try to for Glenn Stacy and Miles to be a thing.
Just a little awkward flirting and most of that goes away after the second half. Almost every character was enjoyable I didn't even have that big of an issue with spider pig.
I thought he would really bring the film down for me but he's way too minimal to really care about. And besides he's off put by the surprisingly decent villains.
Doctor Octavius is really fun and she's got this cocky slightly more modernised authoritative attitude to her.

I absolutely loved the ridiculous design of Kingpin. The man is so round, so large he almost looks like a giant bowling ball.
I'm surprised how much I like Peni Parker as well. I thought she'd just be kind of a know-nothing character but her slightly altered animation style was fun to watch and she has some surprisingly decent little scenes for being so minimal with in the movie.

I don't really have anything to say about it. It was just a really fun solid film. Always happy to see a 3D animated movie that has a different style to it. God knows we could use the variety.

It should go without saying. But I love that this movie is in a way connected with the Sam Raimi universe.
They made little references to all three of them and it's just the cutest thing.
I like that I can consider it a fourth movie in the trilogy.
What do you call films that have 4 films.
It's not a Trilogy anymore, it's a.    Fouragy?
