On this episode of 'Days of Our Lives' Frank finds himself in possession of the strange and mystical box.
The box that can Grand all pleasure or torture.
Frank thinks himself too the limits of feelings of the flesh. But oh my, how wrong he is.
He's ripped asunder, massacred, destroyed and ultimately forgotten.
Until his brother comes back home claiming ownership of the family house and then cutting himself on a nail he'll inadvertently lead to the Rejuvenation of Frank.
Luckily for Frank his brother's wife seem to have had an affair with him earlier in the year(s) and this led her to a Lusty desire.
With her help Frank can regain his human form and escape the Hellbound tortures of the Cenobites. But just how far can you run?
Can one truly escape the fears of the flesh.
Anyways that was my badly put together synopsis of the beginning of the film. Hellraiser really does feel like a soap-opera that got inter spliced with a horrour film.
And it really works out for the film.
This long-lost romance between two people who really should have never gotten together. Leading to an affair involved in murder and sacrifice.
You could probably remove the supernatural elements from this movie and still end up with a good show.
It would just be a thrilling romantic drama instead of a psychiatric, slasher film.
Everybody has this weird mundane and yet kind of over the top performance and there body language is just phenomenal.
I think Clive Barker did a really good job in expressing emotion from he's actors. The physical acts of the people helped to eliminate needless dialogue.
And of course there's the Practical effects which are just outstanding. The Hellraiser series up to a certain point is always been pretty well known for really good practical and brutal effects.
Overall it's a pretty good movie. It's suspenseful when it needs to be and it's downright gruesome most of the time.
It kind of falls into the Trap of being villain Centric. As you don't really have any good or positive people to root for.
Most of the victims are just random guys brought to the house and it's pretty well indicated that most of them are sleazebags.
Then you have the character Christy who's okay, but up until the third Act of the film she doesn't really have that much to do. Honestly she only becomes prominent when she gets hold of the puzzle box.
Andrew Robinson is a really good performance in this movie. Flip-flopping between kind of dolting idiots and possessed psychopath. Given how the end of the film turns out.
And he does a really good job of convincing you that he can play both characters.
And Clare Higgins has this great unsettling feeling to her but she never comes off so complete psychopath or devoid of emotion. Just more of an unstable person whose personality seems uncertain. And that's only because she has to deal with the weird supernatural being what kind of start the school around 4 at one point.
