Film Summary DCXCII (The Irishman)

You have to give credit to Martin Scorsese, it's another mafia story as told through one perspective that goes the exact direction you know it's going to go.
And yet it's still entertaining to watch.
How many times have we seen this movie.
Tons of times.

You can almost guess them beat for beat, but still you sit there captivated.
In this case it almost feels like a grand finale.
Every major famous actor who's ever been in one of these previous Mafia films is here. And Ray Romano for some reason.
I have to say he's doing significantly better these days. He actually comes off as a credible actor.

So here's the kicker it's a 3 hour long film and I have nothing to say about it. That is nothing that hasn't been said by everybody else. It's got good acting, fantastic set design, appropriately minimal amount of CG. Though I still would have preferred if they could avoid it altogether. But I guess in some regards that's just kind of impossible these days, especially with changing Landscapes.
Would have been nice if all the blood was real.
Most of it was fine but there's two or three shots where you can tell they had digital blood. Oh well.

Oh and the age of makeups really good. At no point was I reminded of Star Trek.
Even towards the end when they're trying to make everybody look really old.
You can tell that they don't look like their actual actors, but they still come off as mainly credible. One of Robert De Niro's hair jobs towards the end was a bit off. It just looked a little too white for my liking.
Kind of reminded me of Leslie Nielsen from the Naked Gun movie. Which is funny given his hair was actually that colour.
See, you can tell I have nothing to say.
I'm going off on a tangent about other things.

The Irishman's really good I'm happy I watched it.

I thought I'd complain about it being too long but it's actually filled out quite well. Hell there parts where they could have added more material. You could have easily had this thing be 5 hours long to fill out some of the stories they hinted that. (Thank god they didn't)
