Film Summary DCCX (Ponyo)

What an incredibly cute movie.

I'm quite confused as to why so many people seem to dislike this movie.
I know there's a loser internet '''Reviewer''' out there, who's bad-mouth this film some years ago. There opinions are about as valid as an old expired can of mayonnaise.
But even people who have never seen his work before; close personal friends of mine, just deslike this movie.

And I am baffled as to why.
The story is fun and Charming with breathtaking animations.
It's all around just a really solid Studio Ghibli movie.
In a lot of ways it's might be the quintessential Ghibli movie.

There are huge catastrophic events taking place.
The seacoast's are running rabbits with destructive waves and tsunamis.
The Moon is moving closer to the Earth, which is contributing to be archaic events.
The entire world will be flooded and subdued by the likes of such powers that even Mother Nature is helpless to stop it.

But that's not really what the movies about. Instead it's this incredibly cute story of friendship between a small fish with magical powers and a small boy who befriends the fish.
There are elements of The Little Mermaid pepper throughout the whole thing and it's just a generally intriguing story.
Able to fascinate You with grand sweeping gestures and simple mundane activities.

I wonder if there's a major difference between the English and Japanese language performances for this movie.
I've only seen the Japanese one and I think it holds up really well.
Perhaps the English voice acting is subpar and the people who dislike it so heavily have only experienced that version.

But all the same it's a film worth watching and if you're a fan of Studio Ghibli and you decided to skip this one because you've heard so many bad things about it, than I beg you to reconsider.
It's well worth the watch.
