Film Summary DCCLX (Die Hard)

Sweet Jesus of Montana! Die Hard is so freaking good.
I know, a shocking statement.
No one's ever talked about how much they loved Diehaed before. Especially at Christmastime.
But I never quite realized just how well put together it was.
The heist scenario is well planned out and coordinated both from the thieves point of view and from John McClane trying to screw the whole thing up.
The reactions from everyone is solid and convincing .
I never realized just how much Hans banks on the American police force being overly zealous with its attack first ask questions later policies.
Which is kind of in a stark contrast with Reginald VelJohnson character who's the dizzy cop doing office work because he killed a young kid in the line of duty.
Like think about it.
If that was any other job he'd be fired or in prison. But because he's a cop he can get away with murder and literally end up with a slap on the wrist.

But I don't want to focus on that.
It's one tiny aspect to the movie and you have to look at external police procedures to really dive in on that conversation.
Even though they bring up one of the FBI agents being a nutball because of Vietnam.
And he gets his comeuppance in the end when he blows up.
And not at all just adds into why Die-hard work so freaking well.
Everybody is just realistic enough to keep the stakes up and there's lots of great tension and action peppered throughout.
John McClane spends nearly half the movie just sitting around smoking, hoping that the police can actually take care of it.
Which of course they can cuz they're run by a complete moron who couldn't even operate a high school properly.
And it's just great.
The dialogue between Huns and McClain and the fact that neither of them are stupid enough to pointlessly get hung up on bad Hollywood stereotypes.
With the exception of them holding a gun to each other and having the ability to shoot but not doing so because I need to have a bit of witty banter.
But that all kind of mixed in with the cowboy thing they keep talking about.
And it's used sparingly enough that it doesn't take away from the film.

Yeah it's Die hard I don't have anything interesting to say about it. It's great and it definitely deserve to be a decent Christmas movie because Christmas is littered throughout the whole thing. I mean even some of the theme music is Christmas infused.
