Film Summary DCCLXI (Death Wish)

Oh it's the original death wish. Filled with Revenge fantasy and stories of a Broken Man.
Or at least that's what it is in the second half.
The first half is just him down in Arizona hanging around and working on Landscaping.
His wife and daughter were molested and killed by a gang of The Young Ones* and then Bronson on his return trip from Arizona decides to just start shooting random people.
Mainly muggers who probably weren't going to kill anyone.
And I get that they're breaking the law but I don't think killing someone in cold blood is good justification for a mugging.
Also it doesn't even make any sense. They say muggings are down but everyone and their dog tries to loot Bronson at least two or three times a week. At the end of the movie he moves to a different town and plans on doing it all over again.

That investigative cop at the end is a complete delinquent.
He catches Branson and got em off the street. Then you just let him go anyways.
I get there trying to cover up his death and they don't want to tell the world that he's alive or dead hoping that his presence will be a deterrent against the muggings.
But sweet God man there must have been something you can do we even if you wanted to keep up that illusion.
An Illusion by the way that wouldn't work that long once muggers realized the guy was gone. Like why not try him in court somewhere else.
He used a weapon from Arizona. I'm sure you can find a technicality to get him arrested over there for something.

Anyways the movie itself is fine.
Branson could have been played by just about anybody and it wouldn't have made much difference. I always thought he was some sort of cop originally, He's not even like an old retired police officer on the edge. He's just some random nut.
Kind of astounds me that this movie ended up getting more sequels. Maybe they'll get better who's to say.

*I want to see a movie about the thugs. Just these three weird guys going around robbing people and causing a general nuisance.
Obviously they're horrible people and one of them might have some sort of mental disability. But they were a heck of a lot more entertaining than Bronson ever was.
I wonder how much of their particular style went on to influence other movie thugs that became so prolific in the late 70s and 1980s.
Think of the Warriors or Mad Max. Even a group from the Terminator movies. All of them look like they were inspired by these guys.
Obviously they're just based off rock and roll punks.
