Film Summary DCCLXXXIV (Caliber 9)

So the wealthy Elite of Northern Italy are smuggling their money out of the country via this mobster for a small fee.
It involves switching money between several different operatives and then having one of them presumably stick the money in a car and drive it off to Switzerland or Germany for deposit.
The whole operation is needlessly convoluted and kind of confusing.
That said what the hell do I know about money smuggling.

This guy who was supposed to be our main character (whose name is Ugo) is accused of stealing money from the mobster, $300,000 worth, and that's US dollars to be pacific.
He got put up on charges of bank robbery after getting caught in a low scale easy heist job.
Everybody thinks he did it on purpose and that he hid the money beforehand in the secret location, only to wait a couple years before taking the money and leaving the country for greener pastures.

The head Monster along with his gang of ragtag idiots don't believe Ugo and tail him everywhere he goes, Harassing him, smashing up his place, causing him general troubles and accusing him at every moment of being a thief.
This guy maintains he's innocent of the crime which of course he's not.

Ugo kind of looks like an old man Bruce Willis and unfortunately also acts like an old man Bruce Willis.
I think he's supposed to tough and Silent but he just comes off as kind of doll.
There's a whole bunch of back and forth between police officers and this one police lieutenant who spouts socialism viewpoints as if he was a left-winger on the internet. It's the most interesting part of the movie and none of it has any bearing on the rest of the plot and really has no point to be here.

The movie has a strong opening and a suspenseful ending. A lot of the material in the middle could use some assistance though.
There's a lot of talking but not a lot of development. As stated above the main lead is just kind of boring. I didn't really care if he was innocent or guilty. I wasn't all that bothered if he lived or died.
One of the Thugs who harassed him all the time Rocco Musco started out being really annoying and he got gradually better as the movie progressed.
In a way I almost wish we followed him.
