Contamination: It's my least favourite kind of film.
A movie with wasted potential.
You have this weird biological invasions story involving these strange egg contraptions.
That house a mysterious bacterial substance. If it comes into contact with human skin can cause the victim to simultaneously explode in a massive Squibb of blood and raw Gore.
It's a surprisingly intense and memorable experience.
Especially at the beginning of the movie when you have this hazard quarantine team investigating a boat filled with the substance.
It really let your mind run wild with intriguing questions. What is this stuff, where did it come from, why is it on this boat! Can it be contained!?
Then the rest of the movie happens and all the suspense and Intrigue is thrown out the window.
We get these horrible sets that look like something off what's an old 50s B-Movie.
Filled with bad Italian actors and awful dialogue between are male and female leads.
It almost feels like another rip-off Italian remake of a James Bond movie. There's even a giant egg laying monster that looks like it belongs in an old Ed Wood film.
This film starts off with such an unique and fascinating sequence only to have it de-volve into this crap.
Is just such a shame.
Crystal Triangle: Have you ever seen a movie where somebody is trying to copy Studio Ghibli but they neither have the writing skills nor the animation Department to make it work.
Well Crystal Triangle is your perfect candidate there.
It involves archaeologists Discovering a mystic triangle things that's endowed with the power of God. And we're talkin Abrahamic God of the Old Testament here.
He's real, he's empowered and he might also be a space slug.
A dead space slug at that.
Turns out Nietzsche was right. He was just off by about a hundred years.
Anyways this is one of those films that ends up overcrowding itself with a thousand different mini stories and events going on at the same time.
So you get lost in the trees instead of focussing on one particular story line.
I had more to say about it but I ended up forgetting about 90% of this movie about 3 days after seeing it.
The animation is okay, it's art style is all right.
It gets doll at points and I don't feel like any of the characters were flushed out.
Once again there's just too much going on.
Maybe if they focussed on just the ninja Clan or the Cold War metaphor. Or just the mystical artifact itself and the strange Association to Abrahamic religion. Something neat might have been made here. But as it is, it's just too darn much.
Also did I mention that God might be a space slug, a baby space slug.
