Starting out the list it's 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. A decent if not strange Romance.
With a lady whose life is so utterly and completely a train wreck.
Seemingly a manageable train wreck, but a train wreck all the same.
She gives out secret codes to mob bosses, constantly gets involved in one night stands with every weirdo degenerate you can think of. Is obsessed with marrying money, but never quite successful at it. And has a horrible fear of committing to pretty much anything.
She can't even name her darn cat.
Who subsequently is never named throughout the entire film. So congratulations Cat.
You join the League's of Columbo's dog; being an animal who will forever be renowned for being nameless.
Although I do feel sorry for the real life cat and the fictional cat as their lives must have been awful. This poor cat gets drenched the rain constantly.
Oh, there's also our male love interests. A subpar, on-again-off-again author who seems to be living through a sugar mama. Until he decides to put his eggs in a basket along side the world's most unstable middle-class New Yorker white woman.
Honestly the entire film is a bit underwhelming compared to what I thought it would be given how famous the movie is.
But I can't deny how well the chemistry works between Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard.
They have this strange connection of awkwardness that is just so on perfect for the atmosphere of the movie.
Also there was a racist Japanese caricature which unfortunately has dated aspect of the movie and made a whole whack of people disinterested (if not hostile) to the film despite the rest of it being fantastic in their eyes.
Oh well I guess nothing can be done there.
Pride and Prejudice the film, living off the success of the series, living off of the success of the novel. And my God everyone has their opinion as to which version is the best adaptation and which version is most historically accurate and if one particular form of this story should exist over the others.
Personally I've happy with this adaptation and I'm always happy to see another adaptation done with a unique spin*.
I thought the 2005 movie was decent. It has a kind of whimsical cinematic charm to it where you felt more of the character drama between our romantic leads.
And I was a bit surprised by that, as Keira Knightly is always a hit-and-miss actress for me. Sometimes I feel like she just depends on her stare. Over her actual acting ability.
But I really felt like she worked well here. And the mail romantically this fantastic. I have no idea who the guy is but he was the right amount of arrogance charming and mysterious to be just captivating to watch on film. I'd certainly hook up with him if I was in her shoes. Oh what am I saying, I hook up with him in my shoes now.
The film plays the family out as more destitute than what they were in the book. I mean they weren't Rich by any means, but they certainly weren't poor either.
I'd say they were like Napoleon it is youth.
Poorest of the rich Folk.
Hey, look at that 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow'. It's a nostalgic 1950s Style homage film, but it was actually done well.
Sweet Lord above! This movie is gorgeous. Beyond fantastic animation, a great colour palette, well drawn and animated characters and a simple yet captivating story of a boy and his pet robot.
It was great 20 years ago and it's still good now.
The only thing that sticks out to be these days is that the audio for the general over the phone sounded a bit off.
Like he was being recorded a few feet away from where he was actually saying his lines.
But that's literally the only thing that stuck out to me.
Otherwise it's still absolutely marvellous little film and I end up getting emotional for a big hunk of Steel who just wants to be Superman at the end of the day.
Oh Charley's Angels movie.
I'm always at a loss where I want to place you.
Do I like you, do I dislike you?
It's a big dumb action flick but it knows it's a big dumb action flick based on a big dumb TV show from the 70s.
And all three of the angels are really fun to watch. Their Antics and overall fight choreography is pretty good.
I just adore Lucy Liu in this movie. She gets so many fun action scenes and some pretty good dialogue as well.
For some reason She's Dating the guy who was Joey from Friends?
And a sweet Lord above every single major actor who's ever been popular pops up in this movie for a cameo alongside every popular song from 1995 to the year 2000.
It's absolutely ridiculous and it kind of takes away from the overall Charlie's Angels Vibe of the movie.
I kind of wish they took a little bit more faith in their actual product and just went through with a straight story of the Angels doing their job and actually going on assignments.
But whatever it's relatively fun, it's nothing amazing.
It's the perfect 5 out of 10 movie. I enjoy enough of it overall.
Except for Bill Murray. I disliked him so much in this film as I do with so many other things and that's before I knew about all that crap he as with all the actors and his General scumieness.
Bill Murray can go jump off a cliff for all I care.
And it feels strange to say that because so many of his films are genuinely good, but he is a lousy useless human being. So even though I like some of those movies he can still stick his hand in a cage of porcupines and electric eels.
*Unless it's that zombie thing. That just felt like a bad marketing gimmick.
