Television Summary XXXIX (Hamtaro: Bijou's in Danger)

Well I do say, it's been awhile since I've talked about Hamtaro.

Two years apparently.

Where does the time go?

Today's episode is simple yet concerning. Cat dysphoria has gripped the mind of our little hamsters and everyone's on edge at the idea of being mauled by massive felines.
A concerned that is only Amplified when the hamsters realize their friend Bijou isn't currently in the clubhouse and unknown to them.
She's out in the world, lost and stranded amongst a sea of humans.

Maxwell (of all hamsters) is the one that finds her out and about as he too is traveling amongst the busy streets.
I have no idea why he's out there, but it's probably for the best otherwise Bijou would be lost forever with no one able find her. She'd have to grow up as a stray cat!
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Maxwell makes his way to the clubhouse and informs all the other Ham-hams that Bijou is stuck and possibly in danger*.
The Hams are mortified and want to save her, but understandably a little scared at the possibility of confronting a cat.
Boss is the only one who has the ''nerve'' to make his way out into the open world to rescue her. He's reluctant at first but is eventually accompanied by Hamtaro and a bunch of other ham-hams who also reluctantly join him.

They March out into the streets and inevitably find the Cat with her kittens and Bijou (who had passed out beforehand from shock).
Oddly enough she's actually safe. The mother cat has confused her for one of her kittens and is caring for her the same way as she would any of her other babies.
The Ham-hams have to try their best to rescue Bijou by forming a hamster chain above the cats so they're able to reach down to her.
However this action fails as Oxnard's sunflower seed falls from he's ear on to the mother Cat. Awakening her and causing a chase as most of the Ham-hams are being pursued by the cat.
Hamtaro and Boss are left behind and are able to save Bijou.
But only because Laura and her friend Kana have crossed paths the Cat at the perfect time leading to the hamsters retreat into safety with Bijou**.

Laura's plot in the story is just picking up a Hamster themed detective book and being sad that she wasn't able to see some kittens. Which she dose eventually see anyways, before almost being scratched by an angry feral cat.
I like that the episode doesn't try to portray the Cat as understanding or kind towards random people that come up to her babies.
Kids need to learn stray animals are not your friend!

Okay maybe that's a lesson only I needed to learn. Perhaps it's a lesson I still need to learn.
I just can't help myself.
I see a stray cat, I want to pet the cat. It'd be the same problem with dogs, but I've only encountered dogs roaming around once on there own.

Anyways the episode itself is fairly okay.
It's a little lacking compared to some of the other ones and all the hamsters spend a lot of time monologuing about there willingness to go out and find Bijou without actually doing anything.
Some of the voice acting feels a bit strange. Like the dialogue doesn't match up with the actions of the characters.
It's not a huge disconnect but Laura and her friends dialogue between the two seems a bit disconnected, almost like they're talking at each other but not with each other. (Comes off like I wrote it)
Anyways it's a minor issue.
The characters have a problem to overcome and the baby kittens are extremely cute.

I mean just look at this little guy! He's even got a tiny adorable tooth that'll one day become a large dangerous tooth.

*Maxwell claims to the other hand hands and he wasn't able to hear Bijou when he was out and about the first time he saw her. Still seems kind of strange that he would just abandon her and come to the clubhouse without even trying to get her attention or wait out the crowns. But whatever I guess it's forgivable.

**During the scuffle between the Ham-hams and the cat a large group of hamsters end up inside a bucket; which they then proceeded to run around and distract the cat with.
While they're doing this they run across Laura who only sees the bucket and doesn't know what's beneath it.
Thus adding to the numerous amount of strange events this girl witnesses throughout her Young Life. Most likely leading her to question her own reality and grow up with many superstitious beliefs.
